Neuralog, Inc. was founded in 1991 to find creative solutions for problems in
the petroleum industry through the application of advanced computer science technologies
and client direction. Today Neuralog software solutions are recognized around the world as
the best digitizing and exploration reconnaissance tools available. Currently, over 1000
customers in 70 countries use Neuralog products. These include majors, small independents,
and many digitizing service centers.
Neuralog has signed agreements with several of the world's largest computer-aided
exploration software companies to be incorporated with, and enhance, their own software
solutions.

Product History
1991
Upon completion of initial market evaluations, it became clear that although there was a
variety of software available for petroleum exploration, there was no efficient means of
converting maps and well logs into digital form so computers could use the information.
1992
NeuraLog is introduced at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the
Society of Professional Well Log Analysts annual conferences. Utilizing neural network
driven automatic curve tracing and incorporating suggestions from NeuraLog users, it
becomes known as the best well log digitizing tool available.
1995
NeuraMap is created to automate data capture for maps and drawings. Designed
primarily through customer input and modeled after NeuraLog, it is selected by Landmark
Graphics as a replacement product for ZCAP. NeuraMap’s vast capabilities enable it to
be applied to other industries such as Environmental Planning and Protection as well as
the Petroleum Industry.
1998
NeuraSection, is released as the world's first hybrid cross section tool. It
utilizes standard raster well log images or digital well log files, allowing the
geoscientist to create fully functional cross sections in a matter of minutes.
NeuraSection greatly reduces evaluation time thereby significantly increasing
productivity.
Neuralog Consulting Services is formed at the request of Neuralog clients to aid them in retrieving valuable data in a timely and cost effective manner. Neuralog's staff of highly qualified and experienced technicians, as well as a full time geologist, ensures accurate data capture and rapid turn around time.
1999
NeuraScanner is developed as the first continuous feed, unlimited length
scanner and copier produced specifically for the Oil and Gas Industry. It is
designed to fit into a standard size briefcase and weigh less than 15 pounds. Now
previously inaccessible data can be regenerated and utilized at the convenience of the
geoscientist.
2000 - 2006
Improvements are made to all Neuralog software applications in the Neuralog
Professional Suite with regular releases. Development of NeuraDB
begins, Neuralog's database and archival application.
2004
Neuralog begins offering the NeuraLaser well log printer.
2006
NeuraScanner 2 is released with significant improvements in both
board and image sensor technology. The new NeuraScanner produces a
crisper image, is quieter, and scans significantly faster than its
predecessor.
2007
NeuraDB is released in both North and South
America. Volumetrics and Reserves functionality is added to the
NeuraMap Digitizing Software.
Management Team/Staff
Neuralog, Inc. is a privately held company founded in 1991 by Mr. Robert Best and Mr. Kenneth Land. Neuralog was established to find creative solutions for problems in the petroleum industry through the application of advanced computer science technologies and client interaction. Previously, Mr. Best and Mr. Land worked together in the aerospace industry developing communication simulation software for NASA's space shuttle and space station programs
Robert E. Best serves as President and CEO of Neuralog. He holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A& M University. Mr. Best is the third generation of his family to be involved in exploration aspects of the Oil and Gas Industry and is a member of the Society of Professional Well Log Analyst as well as other industry associations. Mr. Best cultivates and maintains relationships with other software and data providers that will furnish our mutual customers with a totally integrated workflow solution. Through intensive client interaction, Mr. Best serves a conduit of information regarding the issues and needs of the Neuralog customer directly to the Neuralog development staff. His expertise in workflow design and industry software applications provides him with an appreciation of the economic and technical complexities facing the geoscientist today.
Kenneth P. Land serves as Executive Vice President of Research and Development and as a board member. He also holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A & M University and is an expert in image processing and neural network applications. Mr. Land actively researches advancements in computer technology and applications across a number of industries, incorporating those that would most benefit Neuralog clients. He is also leading the effort to provide Neuralog clients instant product information and interaction via the web. Mr. Land’s extensive product development experience has allowed Neuralog to respond quickly to the changing needs of the Oil and Gas Industry.
The Board of Directors of Neuralog, Inc. is comprised of Robert
Best, President and CEO, Kenneth Land,
Executive Vice President of Research and Development and Mr.
James Downing, who has served as a director and consultant to Neuralog
since December of 1996. Mr. Downing has been involved in the development
of Computer Aided Exploration Systems for over 30 years. He founded Zycor,
Inc. in 1979 for the purpose of building the petroleum industry’s first
interactive mapping and modeling system, ZMAP Plus. Mr. Downing served as
President, CEO, and Board Chairman of Zycor until its merger with Landmark
Graphics in 1989. In 1992, he was invited to serve on the Board of
Directors of Landmark, a position he held until Halliburton Company
acquired Landmark Graphics in 1996. While at Landmark, Mr. Downing led a
number of major integration activities as well as the development of
OpenWorks. With the acquisition of Landmark Graphics by Halliburton
Company, Mr. Downing elected to retire from full time employment with the
company and pursue other interests, at which time he joined the Neuralog
Board of Directors.
