The Create/Edit Depth Grids Mode is used to create horizontal depth grids. When the scale axis was created, the top and bottom depth grids are automatically created, but the interim grids must also be inserted. Depth gridding is not optional, and the entire depth axis must be gridded before a digit output file can be created successfully. This process can be done by NeuraLog automatically finding the grid lines, placing grids at an evenly spaced increment when grids aren't visible, manually, or using a combination of the aforementioned processes.
To Create Depth Grids:
| • | Select the Create/Edit Depth Grids Mode . |
| • | Using the left mouse button, click on the log image below the auto-generated top depth grid to create a depth interval with two depth grids. |
| • | Right click below the second depth gridline quickly to automatically start the auto grid find process or |
| • | Right click (holding the button down) until the menu pops up. |
| • | Select Add Gridlines > Auto Find if you want NeuraLog to automatically find evenly spaced gridlines based on the interval you have given between the first two grids, as well as detecting the visible gridlines on the image. |
| • | Editing/Deleting Gridlines: |
| • | If automatic gridding stops, manually adjust grids at the current location and resume automatic gridding. |
| • | Any grid may be deleted by selecting it and hitting the delete key. |
| • | Adjust the grid line by dragging it up / down and/or tilting it using the right handle. |
| • | All grids can be cleared by right clicking and selecting Clear Gridlines. |
| • | If the spacing between the top two or bottom two gridlines has to be different to cover the interval of interest you will need to adjust the depth grid spacing. |
OR
| • | Select Add Gridlines > Place Depth Grids... to place grids in a specified increment between the top and bottom depth grids that were automatically created. (Note: Placing grids DOES NOT take into account any abnormalities from scanning. Be sure to check grid placement before continuing.) |

IMPORTANT RULES FOR PLACING DEPTH GRIDS:
| 1. | There MUST be a depth grid placed at the very TOP of the Depth Axis that corresponds to the Top depth (auto-created when scale axis is entered). |
| 2. | There MUST be a depth grid placed at the very BOTTOM of the Depth Axis that corresponds to the Bottom depth (auto-created when scale axis is entered). |
| 3. | There may be as many (or as few) depth grids as you like defined in between the top and bottom, however, the spacing in feet (or meters) between any two consecutive depth grids must be identical. The only exception to this rule is the spacing between the top two and bottom two gridlines that can be accounted for in Edit > Depth Grid Spacing... |
| 4. | More gridlines equal more accurate digital data. |
NOTES:
| 1. | If you have a color or grey scale image, see Working with Color Images. Adjusting colors can greatly assist in both gridding and tracing curves. |
| 2. | Once the grid is created, the depth values are displayed. |

| 4. | Cursor changes to a 'hand' for easy vertical selection/movement. |
| 5. | Cursor changes to a 'handle' when the right hand side of the line is selected for rotation. |
